Town Board Meeting held May 14, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall, Schroon Lake, New York Present: Supervisor: Catherine L. Moses Councilmen: Roger Friedman, Donald Sage, Sharron Tyrrell, Clara Phibbs Hwy. Super.: Michael Marnell Town Clerk: Janice Tyrrell Also Present: List Attached
When the meeting was called to order, Cathy stated that the repair of the docks has been postponed until next Monday due to the lake being too high. Cathy also stated that there will be no parade on Memorial Day, but the Memorial Service will take place in the park on Monday May 28th at 10:00 AM, with a service also to take place in North Hudson at 11:00 AM Roger moved a resolution to approve the April 2nd minutes, seconded by Don; carried. Roger moved a resolution to approve the April 9th minutes, seconded by Don; carried. Roger moved to approve the April 18th minutes as presented, seconded by Don; carried. Don moved a resolution to approve the May 3rd minutes as presented, seconded by Roger; carried. Don moved a resolution to pay all bills as reviewed, seconded by Roger; carried. Clara abstained from H&K contracting bills. Don moved a resolution to approve a budget amendment for the sewer project, seconded by Roger; carried. Cathy stated that we need to consider the water main replacement project. Clara moved to table the issue until we hear from the auditor, seconded by Don; carried. Workplace Violence & Sexual Harassment Program proposals were as follows: $5500 for the Work-place Violence Program and $100 for the Sexual Harassment Program. Roger moved a resolution to approve the Workplace Violence Program, Don seconded it for discussion. Cathy is to check to see if the county already has a program in place. Don moved a resolution to table the issue for more information, seconded by Roger; carried. Clara moved a resolution to accept and place on file the April Library minutes, seconded by Roger; carried. Don moved a resolution in support of the 11th Annual Marathon, seconded by Roger; carried. An employee has requested to be moved to the Golf Course because of a family hardship. Cathy stated that this is just food for thought at this time. Don moved a resolution of approval for use of park for an auction with funds going to Domestic Violence, seconded by Roger; carried. Clara abstained. The Board had a discussion on the steps in the beach area. Bunny suggested that steps be built into the slope of the bank. Michael stated they had rented a Bobcat sidewalk plow for the winter. He would like to advertise to purchase the machine as a used machine with an approximate cost between trade in value $10,000 and $11,000, $34,000 less and there was no state contract available. Don stated that he had been approached about the BTI program with complaints that it has not been done properly. The Veterans will be using the town sound system for the Memorial Day service. Roger moved a resolution demanding the inclusion of Adirondack elected officials in decisions affecting the Adirondacks, seconded by Don; carried. The resolution is to be forwarded to all government officials.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATIONJane Claus presented a letter questioning the Time Warner Cable service in the town. Mike stated that flags would be flown at half-mast on May 15th for Peace Officers Day. Bruce Caza questioned if there were monies available for the Planning Board if they needed to hire a consultant for large projects they are not familiar with, as there are questions on a proposed 96-lot subdivision up in back of Terrio’s. Sharron moved a resolution to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 PM, seconded by Don; carried.
